Srinagar, Dec 11 (KNO): The Government of India (GoI) Thursday reported significant progress in Jammu and Srinagar's Smart City plans, with 279 projects completed and nine others worth Rs 239 crore still in the pipeline.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has said Jammu has 4 projects under execution worth Rs 128 crore and Srinagar has 5 ongoing projects costing Rs 111 crore.
In total, Jammu has completed 123 projects worth Rs 2,841 crore, while Srinagar has completed 156 projects costing Rs 3,524 crore.
The Government said delays in the remaining projects are due to issues such as land acquisition, legal hurdles, departmental clearances, and construction challenges in hilly terrain.
After the Smart Cities Mission reached financial closure in March 2025, States and UTs were directed to ensure that all pending projects including those in Jammu and Srinagar are completed not later than December 2025, the Ministry added—(KNO)
